Ranking is for the whole of HS chapter 08 (edible fruit and nuts), reporter-declared, latest year available per market. Source: UN Comtrade.
The United States is first at $26.0B and China second at $20.2B. Germany follows at $13.3B, and then the values slide from the Netherlands at $8.5B to India and Italy at $4.5B each. Nothing else on the list comes near the first two, which matter far more to a nut or dried fruit seller than the rest combined at the lower end.
The ten account for 63.2% of value declared by the 96 markets in the dataset. India and Italy share the same $4.5B at ninth and tenth, so treat their order as a tie.
Chapter 08 covers all edible fruit and nuts, from cashews, coconuts and other nuts to dates, figs, grapes and mixed dried fruit, and it also takes in fresh fruit. A market that imports a lot of fresh tropical fruit will rank high here without buying many almonds. The declared value says how much fruit and nut trade passes through a country, and cannot say how much of it is dried.
Several names, such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, are also known as gateways, so some of the goods may be repacked and sent onward to other buyers.
Once you select a destination, search shipment records for the exact heading, for example nuts other than cashews or mixed dried fruit. Consignee names, quantities and origin countries show which importers are active and which suppliers they already use.
Prepare specifications for size, moisture, sorting and packing, plus a delivery term and payment method. Confirm the destination’s current food-safety and labelling requirements with customs, and use the free marketplace on this site to reach buyers who post their needs.
The United States, at $26.0B, ahead of China at $20.2B. The value is for the whole of HS chapter 08, so it includes fresh fruit as well as nuts and dried fruit.
Both are well ahead of Germany at $13.3B in third place. Between first and second the difference is smaller, about a quarter of the leader's value in this table.
Not necessarily. Trading gateways can repack and re-export goods, which inflates declared imports. Check end demand before treating any row as final consumption.
Search customs shipment records for the specific heading you sell, and read the consignee names and origins. Approach repeat buyers whose purchases match your product, directly or through the marketplace.
