Why it is free ›PP woven is the default bulk packaging on the India-UAE rice lane for a reason: it is cheap, strong, and prints well enough for a wholesaler’s own branding.
Woven polypropylene sacking dominates bulk rice export to the UAE for the same reasons it dominates most global grain trade: it is significantly cheaper per bag than jute or non-woven fabric, it tears less easily under forklift and stacking abuse, and it takes a screen-printed logo cleanly enough for a Deira wholesaler or Sharjah distributor who wants their own branding on the sack rather than a plain one. A UAE buyer ordering 25kg or 50kg catering and wholesale volume will specify PP woven unless there is a specific reason to ask for something else.
A plain woven PP sack is not itself food-safe packaging — it is a structural outer layer, and rice sold for human consumption needs a food-grade inner liner (typically a thin HDPE or LDPE film bag inside the woven sack) that actually contacts the grain. A supplier quoting a UAE buyer should confirm whether the liner is expected as standard, since some buyers treat it as included in the price and others expect it itemised separately, and an RFQ that does not mention a liner is worth clarifying before quoting rather than assuming.
| Bag size | Typical GSM range | Common buyer |
|---|---|---|
| 25kg | 90–100 GSM woven fabric | Retail-adjacent wholesalers, smaller catering accounts |
| 50kg | 100–120 GSM woven fabric | Bulk wholesale, labour-camp and institutional catering |
| With laminated print layer | Adds a thin BOPP or PP film for sharper print | Buyers wanting their own branding printed clearly |

Because a large share of UAE wholesale demand ends up redistributed under the buyer’s own trading name rather than the exporter’s, PP woven’s ability to take a clean multi-colour screen print matters commercially, not just cosmetically — it is part of how a Deira or Sharjah trader builds their own market presence. A supplier able to offer flexible print runs (small minimum order quantities per design) has a real edge over one that can only offer a single generic sack design across every buyer.
Beyond the woven fabric itself, a UAE-bound shipment needs the food-contact liner confirmed as safe for direct grain contact, and any printed claims on the sack — weight, origin, halal status — need to match what actually clears customs, since a mismatch between the printed declaration and the shipment documents is a common, avoidable clearance delay. ESMA approval and a current Halal certificate apply to the shipment as a whole, not specifically to the sacking, but the printed sack is often the first thing a buyer’s own quality team inspects on arrival.

Yes — the woven fabric itself is not food-safe packaging on its own, so a food-grade HDPE or LDPE liner inside the sack is standard for rice sold for human consumption.
Yes, PP woven takes screen printing cleanly, and many UAE traders order sacks printed with their own name rather than the exporter's brand.
